Lobat's Place Family Child Care welcomes families to feel that they are part of our extended families. Today, a child's family may take on many forms, all of which are of equal importance to the child. I believe that family child care is a very important extension of you and your child's family. As your child becomes involved in the daily routines they will see the connections between home and family child care in a friendly and supporting way. A flexible daily program will respond to the needs and interests of the children, individually, and in-group settings. By encouraging children to learn and develop at their own level they will gain the confidence of self-importance. Give them guidance and understanding and they will have the opportunity to explore their world in a safe and controlled environment. Children at my centre participate in a variety of individual and group activities designed to develop language and reading readiness skills as well as enhancing physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth, skills and attitudes through play and having fun.

It recognizes the social nature of learning and the important role of language in communication and mediation. Our program views observation, assessment and evaluation as integral components of the teaching/learning process. It supports the child's learning and assists the teacher in making appropriate educational decisions. Our program encourages teachers and parents to be partners in the child's educational process.

St. James Daycare Centre encourages the emergence of each child's personality through: the experience of a social environment, the discovery of acceptable emotional outlets, the stimulation of thought, image and idea, the physical development of large and small muscles, and the development of empathy towards others. To help achieve these goals, we encourage self-expression by providing ample materials, mobility and opportunity to develop the "art" of communication in each child. Our aim is to instill sensitivity, empathy, independence, awareness, curiosity, learning skills and self-confidence in the children. St. James Daycare is licensed for 25 children aged 3 -5 years.
